PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
This Wednesday and Thursday are Parent Teacher Conferences. Your child has been adding items to their SeeSaw account for you to view when attending the conference. Please bring your child with so that they can show you. Conference times will be limited to 10 minutes each.
Math Number Ninja Update
The class just finished a huge unit on fractions! I am so proud of all the students. They worked very hard and many of them have 2’s and 3’s in many fraction standards. We are now working on multiplying multi-digit numbers using various strategies. Ask your child about ratio tables and area models. We are having so much fun learning how to multiply!!
SAS (Serious about Science)
We are currently learning about the Human Brain and how our bodies take in information about the world through our senses, process it in the brain, and then our body responds. The students are enjoying learning about neurons, dendrites, regions of the brain, and the Central/Peripheral Nervous system. It is amazing how our bodies work so hard and we don’t even realize!
Bookworms
Students will be working through our non-fiction standards for the remaining portion of the year. We are working on answering questions that can be found explicitly from the text as well as pulling information from the text features we read. Other areas of nonfiction will include text structure, determining main ideas and summarizing.
Aspiring Authors
After spring break, the kids will take what they have learned about how to read nonfiction text and put it into practice! They will be doing a informational research project on something they are passionate about. This project will include a research paper along with some sort of visual presentation. More information will come home regarding this project but something you can do over break is help your child brainstorm some of their passions or interests.
The Social Scientists: Historians Edition
We just wrapped up our unit on immigration and migration. The students were really interested in this topic! We discussed the different groups of people who immigrated to the U.S. and the push and pull factors that impacted it. These are things that pushed people out of their native countries and pulled them to America. We also discussed the various groups of people that migrated within the United States and looked at their push and pull factors.

Other Important Information
- Mrs. Terry’s and Mrs. Haase’s classrooms are in need of Kleenex. If you could donate a box or two, our noses would really appreciate it!
- Don’t forget to complete HW nightly! We have seen quite a few students that are not completing their homework. This is their time to practice the skills they learned in class. For math, we correct it during class so they get immediate feedback and can ask questions. Please do not forget this important task! Reading logs go home every Monday and are due Friday.
- The weather will be changing daily in the spring months. Please make sure to send a sweatshirt or sweater with your child.
